Leadership and Volunteerism

Washington Trust doesn’t just serve its local communities; it is a part of them. More than 212 years ago, a group of community leaders from Westerly, Rhode Island and Stonington, Connecticut formed the Bank for the purpose of providing quality service to the people of those communities. Today, we are in several more communities and growing, but the core values have remained. Washington Trust hasn’t lost sight of the fact that community involvement is its lifeblood. That’s why the Bank is committed to the people who are its neighbors.

Washington Trust's management and employees are actively involved in the local community, serving in such roles as board members, committee chairs, coaches, and mentors. The Bank also supports and encourages employee participation and volunteer fundraising efforts for activities, such as:

Stars
  • Housing builds
  • Walk-a-thons
  • Community Care days
  • Dress down days
  • Food and clothing drives
  • Event set ups
  • Yard clean up or painting
  • and much more!

84% of Washington Trust employees volunteered during 2013.

Decisions on support of community fundraisers, or for employee involvement as team leaders, board members, or volunteers will be weighed against the Bank's prior commitments.
