Barbara, a Westerly, R.I. resident, is responsible for managing Washington Trust's operations and technology divisions including the development of the bank's technology strategic plan, systems selections and implementations. She has more than 25 years of banking experience with a specialization in finance, accounting, operations and technology. She manages the Bank's 18,000-square-foot operations center that opened in the Westerly Industrial Park during the summer of 1998.
Barbara graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois in 1983 with a bachelor's of science degree in accountancy and is a Certified Public Accountant. She joined Washington Trust in 1988, was promoted to controller in 1989, to vice president in 1992 and to senior vice president in 1998. In 2009, Barbara was named to Bank Systems & Technology magazine's Elite 8 bank technology executives
Barbara has served on the board of directors of Community Health of Westerly, (parent corporation of The Westerly Hospital), Westerly Adult Day Services, Inc., the University of Rhode Island's Business Advisory Council/Visiting Committee, Wood River Health Services, Inc. and the Dunn's Corners School Technology Committee. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Westerly Hospital and is a member of the Rhode Island Society of CPAs, a corporator of the Community Health of Westerly, and the Memorial and Library Association of Westerly. Barbara has served as an instructor for the New England College of Finance and a guest lecturer for various organizations.
