Westerly, Rhode Island... Beginning Saturday, April 17, The Washington Trust Company will host a series of Community Celebration Days at its branch located at 126 Franklin Street in Westerly. Over four consecutive Saturdays, a variety of Westerly-based organizations will showcase their causes and raise funds for their upcoming projects or events.
"Washington Trust has a longstanding commitment to helping our local communities, said John C. Warren, Washington Trust's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We are happy to offer our Franklin Street branch as a venue to help raise awareness of these worthy causes."
The following groups will be at the Franklin Street branch from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.:
April 17: Westerly-Pawcatuck Chamber of Commerce volunteers will sell Duck Race certificates. Children can have their pictures taken with "Lucky Duck." Washington Trust will raffle a Chamber gift certificate.
April 24: Stand Up for Animals volunteers will sell raffle tickets to benefit the new "No Kill" shelter and will bring a display of adoptable animals. Children may have photos taken with the "big dog" mascot. Washington Trust will raffle a gift basket. Radio station WBMW will broadcast live from the branch.
May 1: Westerly Chapter of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Volunteers will sell luminaria sponsorships for Westerly's June 25 - 26 Relay for Life event and sell memorabilia at the traveling Relay store. Washington Trust will raffle camping gear.
May 8: Westerly High School Class of 2004 volunteers will raise funds for senior week activities. Children may have photos taken with the Westerly High School bulldog mascot. Washington Trust will raffle a Strawberries gift certificate. Radio station WBMW will broadcast live from the branch.
In addition to the featured events and raffles, visitors will be treated to free lemonade and balloons each week, courtesy of Washington Trust.
