In addition to taking part in Wear Red Day, on Thursday, February 3, Lina Carreiro, e-commerce specialist for Washington Trust, will take part in AHA's RI's Leading Ladies Go Red at the State House. The event is part of AHA's "The Go Red for Women" movement, a call to action for women to be proactive in taking care of their own health. Since heart disease is the number one cause of death and stroke is the number three cause of death for women over the age of 25, this movement is a vital one.
Washington Trust has been involved with the AHA through other events
as well. Washington Trust has been involved with AHA as a sponsor
of its Heart Walk for more than 10 years. In 2004, Washington Trust's
team was the number one team for the Westerly area Walk, raising
more than $10,000.
