Washington Trust Honors Employees for Community Service, Outstanding Performance and Longevity

Westerly, Rhode Island... The Washington Trust Company recognized several of its employees during its Employee Fest on Tuesday, January 25 at the Venice Restaurant in Westerly. During the Fest, attended by 273 employees, Washington Trust presented its WTC Community Service Award, The Spirit of Washington Trust Award and Distinguished Service Awards (given to 73 employees with a total of 815 years of combined service among them).

The Spirit of Washington Trust Award, which honors employees who exemplify the Washington Trust spirit and distinguish themselves as role models for others, was presented to Beth Frenette, assistant supervisor for the account information center. Frenette is a resident of North Stonington, CT, and has been with Washington Trust for 17 years. Vernon Bliven, senior vice president of human resources, said, "Beth is best described as tenacious, hard working and dedicated, and she has served as an excellent role model and mentor for many of our employees." Washington Trust will make a $500 donation in Frenette's name to Stand Up For Animals in Westerly.

The WTC Community Service Award, which recognizes employees who have made a significant contribution to the community by volunteering their time and effort, was presented to Sandra Liese, commercial credit assistant. Liese, a resident of Hopkinton, RI, has been with Washington Trust for seven years. Liese's community involvement includes volunteering for several events, including the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, the American Heart Association's Heartwalk, River Glow, Charlestown Chamber Seafood Festival, Taste of Mystic, Gaspee Days 5-K Race (in Warwick) and several other church and community events. Washington Trust will donate $500 to A Ray of Hope, in Charlestown, in Liese's name.

Distinguished Service Awards were given to 73 Washington Trust employees. "The awards are given out not just for the employees' longevity, but also for their accomplishments and the contributions they've made to help make Washington Trust so successful," said Bliven. The following employees were recognized for their distinguished service with Washington Trust: Alice M. Brown, of Westerly, 40 years; Philip L. Friend, of Westerly, 35 years; Jillian Dean, of Westerly, 30 years; Sue-Ann M. Holt, of Westerly, 30 years; Harvey C. Perry II, of Westerly, 30 years; Lucille M. Brown, of Westerly, 25 years; Susan M. Findeisen, of Westerly, 25 years; Janice Barber, of Charlestown, 20 years; Pamela J. Broccolo, of Westerly, 20 years; Anita M. Leonetti, of Westerly, 20 years; and Heidi C. Thompson, of Westerly, 20 years. Also, 14 employees were recognized for 15 years of service; 14 were recognized for 10 years of service; and 34 were recognized for five years of service.

The Employee Fest is held each year by Washington Trust to recognize and thank employees for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The award program is in its 15th year.
