Washington Trust Honored for Tsunami Relief Support

Westerly, Rhode Island... Washington Trust was presented with the American Red Cross 2005 Tsunami Relief Supporter award by Governor Donald L. Carcieri on behalf of the American Red Cross - Rhode Island Chapter. The award was presented during the Red Cross's donor recognition luncheon held on May 16 at Restaurant Prov in Providence. The theme of the luncheon was "You've Made a World of Difference." A total of ten businesses, schools, school districts and individuals received awards for raising or donating $5,000 or more towards Red Cross tsunami relief efforts.

Washington Trust contributed $10,000 to a fund it established in January with the American Red Cross to benefit the victims of January's earthquake and tsunami in Asia. Washington Trust also collected more than $4,700 in contributions for the fund at each of its 16 branch offices located throughout Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut.
