
February 23, 2006 (Westerly, RI) . . . Rogean B. Makowski, senior vice president and trust officer for Washington Trusts Wealth Management group will be one of several workshop presenters during the Amercian Bankers Association Wealth Management and Trust Conference, March 8 10, in San Diego, CA.
Makowski will present Solving the Profit Problem: One Banks Case Study of Small Accounts on Wednesday, March 8 at 2:30 p.m. She will co-present the workshop with Tony Whatley, president and CEO, Accessor Capital Management. Makowski and Whatley will discuss the debate regarding the profitability of small accounts and how banks often abandon them for larger ones. The workshop will demonstrate how one bank met the challenge of how to effectively and profitably manage small accounts while living up to fiduciary standards and prudent investment guidelines.
Makowski, a Hopkinton, R.I. resident, joined Washington Trust in 1978 and has more than 25 years experience in wealth management with a special emphasis in employee benefit and retirement planning. She oversees the administration, operations, tax and business development functions of Washington Trust's wealth management area.
Makowski is a graduate of the Williams College School of Banking and is a Chartered Financial Consultant. She has also earned the designation of Employee Benefit Certified Trust Professional from the American Bankers Association. She has served as a board member for various civic and charitable organizations, including the Garde Arts Center, New London, Conn., the Westerly Pawcatuck YMCA, Westerly, RI., and the Rhode Island Estate and Tax Planning Council. She served as past president of the Estate and Tax Planning Council of Eastern Connecticut and as a corporator of the Community Health of Westerly, the parent corporation of The Westerly Hospital, in Westerly, R.I.
