October 4, 2006 (Westerly, RI) . . . The Washington Trust Company presented a $1,000 donation to Meeting Street School for the Alex's Smile Fund. The funds were collected during the Bank's recent Dress Down Day. Each month Washington Trust holds a Dress Down Day to benefit a different non-profit organization. Employees donate $2 in return for "dressing down" for the day, and the Bank matches the total amount donated.
The goal was to raise funds to support the Alex's Smile Fund at
Meeting Street for the building of a new therapeutic pool at Meeting
Street's National Center of Excellence. The 76,000 square foot state-of-the
art facility is currently under construction in Providence, and
will provide a therapeutic setting for exercise and recreation,
as well as assisting those with limited range of motion.
