Washington Trust Employees Receive Presidential Awards

   

March 13, 2008 (Westerly, RI). . .The Washington Trust Company presented awards to 46 of its employees to recognize them for their community service and company spirit during the Bank's recent annual Employee Fest at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.

In 2003, President George W. Bush created the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation to find ways to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our Nation. The Presidential Volunteer Service Award is given as a way to thank and honor Americans who by their demonstrated commitment and example inspire others to engage in volunteer service. Presidential Volunteer Service Awards were given to 43 employees at the Bronze level for serving 100 - 249 hours of community service during 2007. Amy U. Arruda, of Pawcatuck, Conn., received a Silver award for serving 250 - 499 hours of community service.

The Bank also presented its Washington Trust Community Service Award, which recognizes an employee who has made a significant contribution to the community by volunteering their time and effort. The winner was Peter J. Miniati, of Barrington, R.I. He was chosen because of his selfless community service efforts and commitments, and for continually representing Washington Trust in a positive light. A donation of $500 in Peter's name was made to the Meeting Street School.

The Spirit of Washington Trust was presented to Linda M. Aldrich, of Charlestown, R.I. This award honors employees who exemplify the Washington Trust Spirit and distinguish themselves as role models for others. A $500 donation in Linda's name will be made to Breast Cancer Research - Rhode Island Cancer Council.
