
January 5, 2009 (Westerly, RI). . .Washington Trust announces the promotion of Mark K. W. Gim, of Barrington, R.I., to Executive Vice President and Treasurer of The Washington Trust Company and Washington Trust Bancorp, Inc. This promotion recognizes Gim's strong performance in leading the financial planning and treasury functions, and recognizes his role in bringing a wide variety of other corporate initiatives to a successful conclusion, including mergers and acquisitions and capital markets funding. As a key member of the Bank's leadership team, he is responsible for asset/liability management, strategic planning, budgeting and profitability reporting processes, and oversight of the bank's investment and wholesale funding portfolios.
Gim has worked in the banking industry in corporate planning and treasury-related functions since 1989. He serves as President of the Community College of Rhode Island Charitable Foundation and is a member of the board of trustees of the Trinity Repertory Company. He also serves as Lecturer on the faculty of the Morin Center for Banking at the Boston University School of Law. Gim holds a Master of Arts degree from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University.
