January 30, 2009 (Westerly, RI). . .Washington Trust has announced that three Bank employees were recently recognized as "2008 Partners in Philanthropy," by The Association of Fundraising Professionals - Rhode Island Chapter (AFP-RI), at a luncheon at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. Each year on National Philanthropy Day, the AFP-RI Chapter honors an outstanding individual, corporation, business and service organization which have made an extraordinary contribution to philanthropy and volunteerism in Rhode Island.
Kelly Cummings, of Narragansett, vice president, wealth management, was nominated by Saint Elizabeth Community, where she has been chair of the board of trustees for the past four years. She has served in a leadership capacity for Saint Elizabeth Community for the past 15 years. Steven J. Horowitz, president and CEO of Saint Elizabeth Community remarked, "Kelly has been involved with Saint Elizabeth for over 20 years and we could not think of a more deserving person to be our Partner in Philanthropy. Kelly epitomizes what a Partner in Philanthropy should be."
Keith Kelly, of Barrington, vice president, commercial lending, was nominated by Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, where he is a trustee as well as head of the finance and investment committees. Barbara Williams, of Bristol, vice president, Washington Trust Investors, who was nominated by the Girl Scouts of Rhode Island, where she is corporate treasurer and chair of the finance committee. She has been active with the Girl Scout organization for more than 10 years and a member of the board for the past 3 years.
