February 6, 2009 (Westerly, RI). . .Washington Trust employees helped Rhode Islanders in need by donating hundreds of personal care items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, razors, deodorant, gift cards, and adult socks, hats and gloves to Crossroads Rhode Island. The donations were given at the Bank's annual Employee Fest, an event held annually to celebrate years of service, recognize customer service excellence, and honor community involvement. This year's theme "Making A Difference" focused on helping those less fortunate in our community, by providing items necessary for every day living.
"During these extremely difficult times, I'm proud that Washington Trust employees felt the need to give something back to those less fortunate," said John C. Warren, Washington Trust chairman and chief executive officer. "We are extremely grateful to the Washington Trust for their generosity. The donations collected, including gift cards and personal care items, will allow Crossroads to continue our mission of helping the homeless and disconnected in our state," said Michelle M. Wilcox, chief operating officer, Crossroads Rhode Island.
