Washington Trust Announces Strategic Partnership With PCI Compliance Provider ControlScan

Washington Trust has joined forces with ControlScan, a leading provider of Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance and security solutions exclusively focused on small- to medium-sized merchants, to help its merchants meet mandatory requirements set forth by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC).

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) are a set of requirements designed to ensure that all companies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. All merchants that accept credit and debit card payments must comply with the PCI DSS as soon as possible. These standards were established by the five major card brands (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Japan Card) to help merchants proactively protect customer account from credit card fraud and security breaches.

Washington Trust merchants will now have access to ControlScan's PCI 1-2-3 compliance solution, accessible via the Web at myControlScan.com, which provides merchants with the leading tools and support necessary to analyze, remediate and validate PCI compliance, including PCI Self-Assessment Questionnaire and on-demand security scanning, backed by expert technical support with a personal touch.

"Washington Trust's partnership with ControlScan will help our merchants protect their customer's important information," said Phil Friend, Washington Trust senior vice president, retail lending.
