Washington Trust Announces Promotions

Washington Trust will announces the following promotions:

Melissa M. Foley, of Narragansett, R.I., has been promoted to assistant vice president, commercial credit. Foley joined the Bank in 2002 as a credit analyst, and was promoted to commercial credit officer in 2004. She is responsible for preparing detailed credit analyses and assisting loan officers in underwriting new commercial loans, primarily in the Providence market. She received a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Rhode Island, and an MBA from Providence College. Foley is a member of the URI Alumni Association Funding Committee.

Holly M. Knott, of Carolina, R.I., has been promoted to assistant vice president and mortgage officer. Knott joined the Bank in 2001, and was promoted to mortgage specialist in 2005 and then to Mortgage Officer later that year. Knott is responsible for the origination of reverse and forward mortgages and equity loans through outside business development efforts. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Rhode Island.

Maria S. Lizzi, of Warwick, R.I., has been promoted to assistant vice president, corporate planning. Lizzi joined the Bank in 2003 as an intern in Human Resources and Financial Administration. She worked as an auditor until she returned to the Bank in 2005, as a management trainee. She joined the Treasury staff in early 2006, and was promoted to corporate planning officer in 2007. Her responsibilities include interest rate risk modeling, managing the budget and forecast process, profitability analysis, and management information reporting. In addition, she has worked on several key initiatives including internal service quality tracking, strategic planning, and the ongoing implementation of a new budgeting system. Lizzi holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degree, both in business administration, from the University of Rhode Island.

Janice M. Soares, of Richmond, R.I., has been promoted to assistant vice president, commercial credit. Soares joined Washington Trust in 1992 as head teller and then took the position of administrative assistant in 1997, and in 2000, was the first employee to complete the Bank's Senior Administrative Assistant program. She joined the Commercial Lending group in 1998 as a Commercial Lending Associate, and was promoted to credit analyst I in 2000, to credit analyst II in 2002, and to commercial credit officer in 2004. She is responsible for preparing detailed credit analyses and assisting loan officers in underwriting commercial loans. Soares holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Providence College.
