Westerly, Rhode Island... Washington Trust has announced that David V. Devault, of Westerly, R.I., has been promoted to Senior Executive Vice President, Secretary and Chief Financial Officer of the Corporation and its banking subsidiary, The Washington Trust Company. Devault is responsible for managing the critical functions of financial planning, accounting, internal and external financial reporting, and governance matters. Additionally, he meets regularly with shareholders, investors and analysts in support of the corporation’s investor relations efforts.
Devault, a Westerly resident, is a 1976 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He served with the public accounting firm of KPMG in Providence from 1976 to 1986 when he joined Washington Trust as Controller. He became Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1987 and Senior Vice President in 1990. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in June 1998 and was named Secretary of Washington Trust Bancorp in 2005. Devault currently serves as a trustee of The Westerly Hospital and a director of the Ocean Community YMCA. He previously served as Chair of the Rhode Island State Alliance of YMCA's, Chairperson of the Providence Chapter of Financial Executives International, and Chairperson of the Westerly-Pawcatuck YMCA.
