Washington Trust Offers Free Rhode Island Beach Pass

Bank Provides Season Beach to New Checking Customers With Direct Deposit

FREE Beach Pass

Westerly, Rhode Island... Washington Trust, the largest bank headquartered in Rhode Island, is once again demonstrating its “luv” for the Ocean State by announcing that it will give a free Rhode Island State Beach Season’s Pass to customers who open a new checking account with direct deposit. The Beach Pass can be used at any of Rhode Island’s eight state beaches: Charlestown Breachway, East Beach, East Matunuck, Misquamicut, Roger Wheeler, Salty Brine, and Scarborough North and South.

“Washington Trust is committed to Rhode Islanders and supporting the local economy,” stated Joseph J. MarcAurele, Washington Trust’s Chairman, President & CEO. “At a time when many banks are increasing fees and eliminating free checking, we felt it was important to offer our friends and neighbors a free checking account and free pass to enjoy our State’s most beautiful natural resource. It’s another I Luv RI value that will also help support local Rhode Island businesses.”

Washington Trust is one of the few banks to offer free checking along with free online banking and bill payment, a free debit card with rewards, free SMS text messaging and free use of Washington Trust ATMs (other banks may charge for their ATM use.) New Washington Trust checking account customers will receive a gift certificate for a Rhode Island State beach pass when their first $50 direct deposit is posted to their new checking account.

The gift certificate, valued at $60, may be presented at any Rhode Island state beach, beginning May 1, 2012, to acquire a season’s beach pass. The gift certificates are transferable and do not expire. Non-Rhode Island residents may redeem the gift certificate towards the cost of an out-of-state season’s beach pass.

The Free Rhode Island State Beach Pass promotion is part of Washington Trust’s “I Luv RI” campaign, www.iluvri.com, designed to promote Rhode Island businesses and celebrate all that’s great about the Ocean State. Since its introduction in July 2011, I Luv RI has attracted more than 10,000 Facebook ‘likes’, with an average of 160,000 post views. The site offers discounts from more than two hundred and fifty local businesses.
