Washington Trust Selects I Luv RI September Photography Winner

Photo of Watch Hill Sunset Chosen for September Issue of RI Monthly

September Winner

Westerly, Rhode Island... Washington Trust and Rhode Island Monthly announced today that “Watch Hill Sunset over Little Narragansett Bay”, a photo taken by Zachary Turner, Watch Hill, R.I., is the recent winner of the I Luv RI 2012 photography contest and will appear in the September issue of Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.

“I always experience a rush of excitement when I watch the setting sun splash the water line with color. Whatever else I have on my mind doesn't matter; the power of nature is as invigorating as it is cleansing. For reasons I can’t fully describe, a sunset instills in me a sense of purpose and hope—a renewal of sorts—an appreciation of a simple joy. Watch Hill and its ‘Little Narragansett Bay’ offer breath taking sunset views and miles of gorgeous beaches,” said Turner.

“Watch Hill is a quaint Rhode Island village that bustles with summer tourism, so this sunset illustrates a peaceful ending to a long summer day,” stated Joseph J. MarcAurele, Washington Trust Chairman, President and CEO. “Fortunately, Rhode Island boasts 400 miles of coastline, so sunrises and sunsets like this are witnessed along our harbors, inlets, and beaches throughout the year.”

The “I Luv RI” photo contest is sponsored by Washington Trust in conjunction with Rhode Island Monthly. Photographers may enter by sending their favorite Rhode Island photo to: www.rimonthly.com/ILUVRI, or by visiting www.iluvri.com.

Each month in 2012, a winning photo will be selected and published in Rhode Island Monthly magazine. Monthly photo winners also receive an “I Luv RI” gift basket full of Rhode Island items, and one of twelve special Rhode Island experiences, including stays at Rhode Island’s best resorts, such as Watch Hill’s Ocean House; The Chanler at Cliffwalk in Newport; the Harborside Inn or RI Hotel Manisses, on Block Island; or receive special VIP experiences at the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Providence Bruins, Trinity Repertory Company, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Roger Williams Park Zoo, Warwick Mall and Yawgoo Valley Ski Resort; or a ‘Cake A Month’ from Rhode Island’s own Gregg’s Restaurants.
