Westerly, Rhode Island... The Washington Trust Charitable Foundation recently donated $15,000 to the Greater Westerly Chamber Foundation (GWCF) to help support the “Bring Back the Beach” Misquamicut Beach Recovery Fund. The Misquamicut Beach area sustained significant damage when Hurricane Sandy tore through the Westerly, Rhode Island shoreline community.

“This is our hometown and we are committed to helping our community,” said Joseph J. MarcAurele, Washington Trust Chairman, President and CEO. “We hope this donation will help our neighbors restore the Misquamicut Beach area for all to enjoy.”

Donations and contributions to the Misquamicut Beach Recovery Fund have been made from businesses and organization all over the region as the community has worked together to begin the rebuilding and restoration of the heavily impacted Misquamicut Beach Area.

“We are truly grateful to Washington Trust for taking a leadership role with the Misquamicut Beach Recovery Fund,” said Lisa Konicki, Executive Director of The Greater Westerly Chamber of Commerce. “Washington Trust’s donation is our largest donation to date, once again exemplifying the Bank’s commitment to the local community.”
