Westerly, RI - Washington Trust has donated $25,000 to Saint Elizabeth Community in support of its capital campaign for the building of GREEN HOUSE® Homes at Saint Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich, RI. Saint Elizabeth Community President and CEO Steven Horowitz, Washington Trust Chairman and CEO Joseph MarcAurele and Washington Trust President and COO Edward Handy made the announcement jointly, at a check presentation outside the new GREEN HOUSE® Homes. The donation represents a multi-year commitment to the non-profit, Saint Elizabeth Community on behalf of the Washington Trust Charitable Foundation.

Partnering with THE GREEN HOUSE® Project, the GREEN HOUSE® Homes at Saint Elizabeth Home provide an innovative new model of nursing home care. Each home has 12 private bedrooms with private bathrooms and showers. The homes are built to provide space for both privacy and community, with bedrooms encircling the shared space which includes a dining room, kitchen and hearth room. These homes have all the amenities that make them real homes, complimented by the features of a state of the art nursing home.
The Washington Trust Charitable Foundation provides charitable grants to 501(c)3 organizations whose work benefits the communities served by the bank.

Westerly, RI - Washington Trust chairman and CEO Joseph MarcAurele, Washington Trust president and COO Edward Handy and Washington Trust senior vice president Dennis Algiere presented a $100,000 check to Amy Grzybowski, executive director of the Westerly Education Center, and Neil Steinberg, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation, on behalf of the Washington Trust Charitable Foundation. The donation represents a multi-year commitment to support the Westerly Higher Education and Job Skills Center, which opened in January 2017.
"Because of Washington Trust's support of the Center, thousands of women and men in need of workforce and skills training will know a better future for themselves and their families as a result of the access to quality education provided to them," said Grzybowski. "We are truly grateful for the investment Washington Trust has made in their futures and ours."
“Washington Trust’s very generous commitment to the Center will support the growth of this important educational and skills training facility initiated by the Royce family,” said Steinberg. “Students are already attending the classes and training that will create the workforce necessary for manufacturers like Electric Boat to expand and thrive.” The Rhode Island Foundation accepted the donation on behalf of the charity that was created to support the project.
The Center is an innovative facility designed to bring together higher education, business, industry, and community partners to serve the workforce and community needs of southwestern Rhode Island and the State. The 34,500-square-foot facility will be the base for providing high-quality educational programs in key sectors to meet projected workforce growth in the region. The anchor tenant is the Community College of Rhode Island in partnership with General Dynamics Electric Boat.

East Providence, RI– University Orthopedics, a regional center for orthopedic and rehabilitation care, recently opened a new, 90,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art medical office and surgery center in East Providence, Rhode Island. Washington Trust provided commercial financing for the new facility, which is the first commercial project within the Kettle Point redevelopment project in East Providence.

Featuring Smart Building Technology, the new facility integrates high level design and on-site amenities, and includes an Ambulatory Surgical Center, state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and physical therapy/rehabilitation facilities.

Westerly, RI – The Washington Trust Company has hired Albertina Santos as Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager for the new Washington Trust branch now open on the East Side of Providence, at 229 Waterman Street. Upon the opening of its new East Side location, Washington Trust now has a total of 20 branches throughout Rhode Island as well as one in Mystic, CT.
Santos has more than 20 years of banking experience, having held numerous positions within the Rhode Island market. She most recently served as Branch Manager for Bank of America’s North Providence location. Westerly, RI – Washington Trust, the largest state-chartered bank headquartered in Rhode Island, kicked off the opening of its 21st branch at 229 Waterman Street on the historic East Side of Providence, Rhode Island with a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, February 3rd. Washington Trust Chairman and CEO Joseph MarcAurele and President and COO Edward “Ned” Handy were joined by Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, Rhode Island Lt. Governor Daniel McKee and Liz Tanner, VP of Client Services for the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation who was there representing the office of Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo.
At the ceremony, Joseph MarcAurele, Ned Handy and Branch Manager Tina Santos presented a check to Jeffrey Savit, President and CEO of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, the branch’s first community partner on the East Side.

West Warwick, RI – Washington Trust has donated $50,000 to the Station Fire Memorial Foundation in support of its capital campaign to build the memorial park created to honor the 100 people who lost their lives in the tragic Station Nightclub fire on February 20, 2003. The donation represents a multi-year commitment to the foundation on behalf of the Washington Trust Charitable Foundation.
Joseph MarcAurele, Washington Trust Chairman and CEO, is a member of the Station Fire Memorial Park Campaign Leadership Committee. The park, which is due to open at a dedication ceremony on Sunday, May 21st, is located on the site of the former nightclub, at 211 Cowesett Avenue in West Warwick, RI. It was constructed by Gilbane Building Company with active assistance and donations from various building trades.
