Business Spotlight: Chris Carr Ink

The lovable character, Corwin (whose name means: “heart’s friend”) has captured the hearts of many. This little friend is featured on over 95 different hand drawn greeting cards, as well as t-shirts, coffee mugs, magnets, stickers, coloring books, and more! Corwin is the creation of Christine Carr, a physical education teacher at East Greenwich’s Frenchtown Elementary School and resident of Wakefield, RI. She believes that we all need a little friend for our heart.

“We all get birthday and thank you cards, but to receive a card ‘just because’ really has soul-warming power. The feeling that person gets simply from knowing that they were thought of will spread throughout their whole day—kindness breeds kindness! Corwin acts as an ambassador for goodness,” says Carr

As for owning a small business in Rhode Island, Chris has enjoyed every little bit. “It has been delightful to meet the shop owners in Rhode Island that are carrying the Corwin cards. I appreciate the opportunity to give back to our Rhode Island communities by partnering with various organizations to donate a portion of our sales to aid their efforts. Programs such as the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County, ICC, and Family Service of RI are just a few organizations I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with, ” Carr continues, “Washington Trust has been so helpful and genuinely supportive with the business banking part of this Corwin journey. They were there with me right from the beginning.”

The positive messages Carr receives on a regular basis about how much Corwin’s “Daily Doodle” on Facebook and Instagram has inspired them really makes her heart smile. People that have purchased value packs of cards and “think happy” t-shirts, mugs, and stickers continuously share how happy the Corwin mission makes them feel. The “give love-get love” approach to life works!

Corwin has been featured on WPRI, the Amazing Women morning radio show, the Warwick Beacon, and the URI Alumni magazine, and Chris Carr Ink continues to offer their “Random Acts of Corwin” where 20% of all sales during a certain time frame are given to a chosen cause or organization, giving them an opportunity to partner with a local organization that could use a little help.
