Business Spotlight: Mystical Gardens Flower Farm

Mystical Gardens Flower Farm sells fresh cut, farm raised, and sustainably grown local blooms from their micro-farm on Sleepy Hollow Road in North Stonington, Connecticut. They cultivate beautiful specialty cut flowers and selling to the local community is their passion. Owner and farmer/florist Beth Varas started the farm because she's always had a love of flowers and an appreciation of their beauty and effect on people. Also, after learning about the cut flower industry in this country, with 80% of flowers sold here being imported from foreign countries, Beth wanted to offer an alternative: locally grown, beautiful blooms.

The farm was started in 2017 when Beth and her family built a house across from the home and property she grew up on. After getting permission from her parents, Beth started a flower farm on the same property her entire family used to tend, growing veggies to feed them throughout the season. Their flowers are sold through an on farm Flower Cart, Farmer's Markets, weekly bouquet subscriptions, custom arrangement/bouquet orders with local delivery, wedding/special event design, and bulk DIY buckets for people wanting to design for their own special events.

Beth's favorite part of owning her Flower Farm is that she is basically growing from home which makes it easier for her to be with and work with her family. There are so many other small business owners in this community who strive to help and support each other. Keeping small business successful helps everyone in a community in so many ways, and these sentiments are very visible in our area. Washington Trust gave Beth her very first business account and business credit card, which made it possible for the micro farm to grow to where it is now.
