Anthony Botelho
Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Lending Officer
Tony serves as one of the Bank’s two Chief Lending Officers and leads Washington Trust’s Commercial & Industrial Lending and Cash Management groups, as well as the Commercial Banking growth initiative in Connecticut.
Tony has more than 35 years of experience in the banking industry, with extensive expertise in relationship management, private banking, commercial real estate, and market development. Prior to joining Washington Trust, Tony served as President & CEO of Freedom National Bank based out of Greenville, RI. Under his leadership, Freedom National Bank was repositioned into a high achieving financial institution with a strong culture that was ultimately sold to a Massachusetts financial institution.
Tony holds an MBA from Bryant University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island.
A Rhode Island resident, Tony is very active in the communities that Washington Trust serves. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at the United Way of Rhode Island. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce and is a past President of the Rhode Island Bankers Association.
