R.I. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce honors Washington Trust at Café con Leche
December 05, 2025

The Rhode Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce today presented Washington Trust Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edward O. “Ned” Handy III with its Outstanding Contributor Award during the Chamber’s annual Café con Leche Breakfast. The award recognizes Handy’s leadership in driving economic development and expanding access to opportunity in Rhode Island, along with his commitment to Latino business growth.
In 2024, Washington Trust financed the Chamber’s purchase of the James Potter House in Providence to serve as its first-ever headquarters. The Bank’s $800,000 investment in the property located at 359 Broad Street in the Trinity Square National Historic District, has supported the continued revitalization of Providence’s South Side.
The Rhode Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce advocates for Latino-owned businesses and entrepreneurs, providing resources, networking, and education to strengthen Rhode Island’s diverse economy.
