Washington Trust Recognizes Employee Service and Volunteerism With Awards During Annual Employee Fest

Washington Trust recently recognized nine employees for their exceptional leadership, teamwork, and community service during the company’s annual Employee Fest. To celebrate these employees, the Washington Trust Charitable Foundation made donations totaling $9,000 to local nonprofit organizations chosen by the award winners. In 2022, Washington Trust employees volunteered more than 6,800 hours of their time with local nonprofit organizations.

One of the awards presented was The Spirit of Washington Trust Award. This award is given to employees who have demonstrated excellence through their outstanding customer service, teamwork, performance of work to the highest standards, dedication, and service to others.

  • Spirit of Washington Trust Award: Chrissy Diaz, Vice President, Online Services, directed a $1,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House of New England in Providence, RI.
  • Spirit of Washington Trust Award: Holly Knott, Vice President and Senior Wealth Planning Officer, directed a $1,000 donation to Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island located in Providence, RI.
  • Spirit of Washington Trust Award: Vashaan Nowell, Vice President, Mortgage and Technology Operations, directed a $1,000 donation to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Trust Fund located in New London, CT.
  • Spirit of Washington Trust Award: Solveig Smith, Professional Teller at the Wakefield Branch, directed a $1,000 donation to Homes For Our Troops located in Taunton, MA.

The Community Service Award and the Stella Nova Award is presented to employees who have demonstrated a commitment to the communities that we serve through their volunteerism, contributions, and service to others. These employees embody Washington Trust’s core value of Community and serve as a role model to fellow employees.:

  • Community Service Award: Rosa Pastor, Community Lending Officer, directed a $1,000 donation to The United Way of Rhode Island located in Providence, RI.
  • Community Service Award: Kristen Pistocco, Flex Banker at the North Providence Branch, directed a $1,000 donation to Saint Anthony’s Kitchen Ministry located in North Providence, RI.

The Stella Nova Awards are reserved for employees who are new to Washington Trust.:

  • Stella Nova Award: Brianna Gillis, Flex Banker at the Rumford Branch, directed a $1,000 donation to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Rhode Island, located in Providence, RI.
  • Stella Nova Award: Michelle Hart, Flex Banker at the Wakefield Branch, directed a $1,000 donation to Project Hand Up, located in West Warwick, RI.
  • Stella Nova Award: Shannon Keeley, Retail Operations Associate, Online Services, directed a $1,000 donation to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly located in Westerly, RI.

Washington Trust supports and encourages employee volunteerism through the company’s 'Reach for the Stars’ volunteer program. The program encourages participation in company-sponsored and other volunteer opportunities, and recognizes employees’ involvement and efforts as volunteers, or members of nonprofit boards, advisory councils, or committees.
