Washington Trust to offer homeownership prep sessions at South County Habitat for Humanity

October 23, 2026

WESTERLY, R.I. – The Washington Trust Company (Washington Trust) will participate in the South County Habitat for Humanity Financial Wellness Series this fall, providing two free workshops designed to help individuals and families prepare for homeownership.

The workshops are part of a community financial education initiative sponsored by South County Habitat for Humanity and the Jonnycake Center for Hope, bringing together local organizations to provide practical information on personal finance and homeownership.

Washington Trust will present the following sessions:

  • Financial Empowerment for Homeownership on Nov. 5, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will learn how budgeting, credit management, savings and debt management can help support their path toward homeownership.
  • Path to Homeownership on Nov. 19, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The workshop will explore the homebuying process, including mortgages, pre-approval, loan options, underwriting and closing.

The workshops complement Washington Trust's Path to Homeownership program, an ongoing initiative designed to provide an educational foundation for homeownership. The program offers tools, resources, webinars and personalized guidance from a Community Lending Officer to help prospective homebuyers navigate the process with confidence, whether they are just beginning to explore homeownership or preparing to purchase a home.

Washington Trust’s two educational sessions will be offered in both English and Spanish and will be available virtually and in person at South County Habitat for Humanity in Wakefield.  To register, call 401-213-6711, ext. 305.
