Michael is responsible for identifying and capitalizing on business development opportunities throughout all business lines, with a focus on commercial lending relationships. Michael joined Washington Trust in 2010 and manages the Cash Management, Merchant Services, and Small Business Lending product lines. Prior to beginning his banking career, Michael held various accounting and finance positions with the Rhode Island Department of Economic Development, General Electric and Bostitch-Textron. In 1986, he completed the Fleet Financial Group Commercial Credit/Lending Management Training Program, and became a Commercial Loan Officer. He held various positions of increasing responsibility and complexity before joining Citizens Bank in 1993. Prior to joining Washington Trust, Michael served as Senior Vice President and Senior Finance Manager and was responsible for financial budgeting and strategic analysis of commercial banking activities, management of the sales process, sales incentive programs, and related senior management reporting. A graduate of Bryant University, Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Michael serves on the boards of the United Way of Rhode Island and Special Olympics. He also serves on various non-profit committees at the Tomorrow Fund, San Miguel School, St. Joseph's Hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital, and Diocese of Providence Loan Committee. In addition, he served as past president of the Board of Directors for the Button Hole Short Course and Teaching Center, and is a former board member of the RI Sports Council. Michael was the 2009 recipient of the Men Who Make A Difference Award from Women's Resource Center of Newport and Bristol Counties. He and his family reside in Barrington, R.I.
